Villa Alba’s dedicated volunteers enable the Museum to successfully run open days, special events, special projects and to reach out to the community. Volunteers develop new skills and knowledge, join a welcoming and passionate group with diverse backgrounds who are committed to preserving and promoting Villa Alba’s cultural heritage.
Volunteer roles
Museum Volunteers
On Open Days, Museum Volunteers welcome visitors and share stories of the history of the house and its decoration. Volunteers are not expected to be historians or decorative arts experts but all are keen to share their enthusiasm for the house with others. Open Days currently occur 1 – 4pm on the first Sunday of the month.
Garden Volunteers
Our restored heritage garden requires lots of maintenance! Garden Volunteers work in teams to complete essential activities such as planting, pruning, weeding, and sweeping to ensure that our Garden Conservation Plan stays on track and the grounds look beautiful for Open Days and events.
Event Volunteers
The Villa Alba Museum maintains its own event program and also hosts events organised by other groups. Events include exhibitions, performances, lectures and social activities. Event Volunteer roles vary widely – from supervising the house during external hire events to coordinating and staging Villa Alba-initiated events. The time required and the type of help needed varies.
Project and Specialist Volunteers
There are ongoing opportunities for Project Volunteers in specialist areas such as exhibitions, research, history, human resources and administration. These roles are often time-limited or related to a specific activity.
